The National Jazz Workshop

The National Jazz Workshop (NJW) has set a standard of excellence for those serious about learning and mastering the language of the definitive American art form — jazz.

Inspired by the legendary Stan Kenton Jazz Camp model where, as Kenton said, students would “take a bath in jazz,” NJW offers an intensive, comprehensive curriculum for jazz studies including improvisation, big band and small-group performance, composition, arranging, and masterclasses.

The main goal of the workshop is to provide participants with the resources and direction to further develop and expand individual skills during, after the camp, and throughout the year.
